Voice/Piano/Singer-Songwriter

Kelli Owens Hutton is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist with over 20 years of experience playing in bands and recording. She was signed to Atlantic Records and has toured nationally with acts like Better Than Ezra and Edwin McCain. Her songs have been featured in major motion pictures and on various records. She has a Bachelors degree from Berklee College of Music and comes from a musical family as her father was the Director of Jazz Studies at Northwestern University for 26 years. Her first instrument was the clarinet and she played classical music for 7 years.

Kelli is deeply involved in the Chicago music scene and performs regularly with some of Chicago’s top musicians including Tributosaurus, The Zimmerman and Ike Reilly. She has performed at Theater On The Lake, The Park West, Martyrs, City Winery, Schubas, The House Of Blues, Fitzgerald’s etc. She has also been releasing singles from her EP Soccer Trophy that she made with Grammy nominated producer Liam Davis. She has lived and performed at large venues and festivals in Boston, Nashville and New York City.

In Boston, Kelli studied voice with Mark Baxter (Aerosmith, Vampire Weekend, Jake Owen) who taught her how to sing Rock & Roll in a healthy way. She carries that approach to this day by teaching how to sing without stress or tension. A seasoned performer, she is also able to help singers who feel self conscious or shy by creating a safe and positive environment to thrive.

Kelli studied piano in High School in Evanston with Alan Swain where she learned how to form complex chords with his reharmonized jazz standards. She loves to teach chord structure and inversions along with how to play rhythms and hooks in popular music. This includes playing synthesizer, Wurlitzer and organ. She is also able to help vocalists accompany themselves on keyboards as well as guitar.
